NETMCDO 20th anniversary conference:
The Past, Present, and Future of the
Music Career & Entrepreneurship Development Field

In 2015 we went both big picture AND dove into the nuts and bolts as we examine lessons learned and ignite our imaginations for the future. We gained fresh perspectives plus tools and strategies we could implement immediately.

Day 1 Agenda: Wednesday, January 14

We discussed the many aspects of music career services issues in panel discussions, small breakout groups, and large group discussions. These sessions addressed the issues that matter most to the participants. 

Check-in open at 8:15 a.m.

Coffee, tea, and continental breakfast available at 8:30 a.m.

We will start the first session promptly at 9:00 am

9:00–9:30 a.m. The Unexpected Networking Experience
A musical interactive session with our intrepid facilitator composer/bassoonist/bon vivant John Steinmetz and comrade-in-arms John Blanchard.
9:30–9:45 Official Welcome and Remarks
Manhattan School of Music President James Gandre
9:45–10:30 Hidden Trends & Provocative Findings from Arts Researchers
(and the implications of these for Career and Entrepreneurship professionals)
10:45–12:00 Past, Present, Future
That of your own and of that your institution
12:00–1:00 p.m. Lunch - (catered)
A delicious lunch (included in cost of registration) — connect with both new and “old” friends and discuss topics started in the morning sessions.
1:15–2:50 Inventing the Musical Future of Our Dreams: Is Your Eyesight 2040?
Small breakout group work done with 30 students participating
3:00–4:15 Swapping Perspectives
Role Playing Sessions (for optimizing advising sessions and program support discussions with administrators)
4:30–5:15 Teaching Demos - Round 1 of 2
(3 concurrent sessions)
5:30–6:30 Topflight Reception
Enjoy a great NYC view from the President's Residence with food and a relaxing drink to decompress from the day's activities.

Day 2 Agenda: Thursday, January 15

Exchanging the latest and greatest finds in best career development and entrepreneurship resources and ideas
9:30–10:45 Panel Discussion: Embedding Entrepreneurship/Career Development Throughout the Institution

12:30–2:00 p.m. Lunch

Optional tour/open house of Manhattan School of Music’s Center for Music Entrepreneurship from 1:00–1:30

As many veterans can attest, this tradition is as vital a part of our conference as any of the sessions. Please try and arrange your travel plans so that you can stay until at least 5:15. Or better yet: stay an extra night and join us for cocktails and/or dinner.
